1. Open the packaging and gently remove the condom. Although strong, condoms can be damaged by sharp nails, jewellery or teeth. Never use more than one condom at a time. Always change condoms between different partners and different sexual acts (vaginal, oral or anal) to reduce the risk of HIV and STI transmission.
2. Always put the condom on before any sexual contact and only when the penis is erect, with the rolled side facing out. This helps reduce the risk of unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
3. Condoms only unroll in one direction. Do not unroll the condom before putting it on. Make sure the condom is placed with the rolled side facing out.
4. Pinch the tip of the condom to remove any air and leave room for semen. Air trapped inside can increase the risk of breakage.
5. Unroll the condom fully down to the base of the penis. If it doesn’t unroll easily, it might be inside out, damaged, or expired. Discard it and use a new one. If the condom feels loose or overstretched, stop and check to avoid breakage.
6. Do not use oil-based lubricants (e.g. massage oils, body lotions, baby oil, butter, margarine, petroleum jelly) as they can damage polyisoprene condoms. Only use lubricants compatible with polyisoprene. Some topical medications may also affect the condom. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if unsure.
7. After intercourse, withdraw carefully while the penis is still erect. Hold the condom at the base to prevent spillage. Angle the penis downward when removing the condom.
8. Tie the used condom and wrap it in paper. Dispose of it hygienically in the bin. Do not flush it down the toilet.
